A constitutional question regarding police searches and seizures..?

I am in a discussion with an associate about Constitutional rights regarding searches and seizures. Here is the hypothetical situation we are discussing. Assume you are driving in a car where you can pull the back passenger seats down using the lever, and there is a compartment in between the back seats and the trunk, about 1 foot by 1 foot and about 5 inches wide (although I don't see size a factor I wanted to describe what I'm talking about) and it has a latch to lock it so it wont open, although there is no key for this lock and you just have to twist it to make it vertical to open. Can an officer of the law open this compartment if it is in the locked position even though it is a simplistic lock? Can they move your seats down to perform this search? Thank you for any information possible!

if you want sweet, why not make your own. you could look up sweets with low calories and bring them with you. like lemon jello, pudding, but don't add too much sugar or else it would ruin the whole point, or you can just eat sweets a bit each day but if you get overboard, make sure to drink lots of water and do 200 times of jumping jacks or 100 sit ups.

Would the US undoubtedly be a safer place if guns were illegal?

I live in England and we do not have guns by the boat load like you guys. I never come across any gun crime and I am not afraid of being confronted by someone with a gun. This is because it is just so rare that I have never seen anyone with one. The only place I have ever seen a gun is at the airport or when I go to the US. Get rid of them. Guns may not kill people but people with guns do.
